It’s April. It’s the time of the year again where endless nights of studying and feeding on energy drinks in hoping to ace the finals dominate our daily lives. After this never ending month, some will graduate to explore the real world and some (like me) will sleep each day praying that some miracle will happen over the summer. And on this merciless month of April, KOWIN Montreal has fruitfully held its first dinner with Mentor event at Jean Vius. Our featured mentor for this month was Mr.Daniel Yoon who is currently working as a Canadian border Officer. Mr.Daniel Yoon thoughtfully answered all of the mentee’s questions in regarding school, life and career concerns.
The most frequent topic that came up during the dinner was the question in regarding our future. What should I major next year? What if I don’t like my job? How do I know what I want to be when I don’t even know what I like?
To this, Mr.Danel Yoon has thoughtfully explained to us that there is no one way to life but many and that you need to try many things, explore to figure out what you truly want. To this message, he held on to his rice bowl and said, “ There are many ways to go through this rice bowl. You can go around it, dig under it, push it as hard as you can or just simply lift it. There is no one definite method in finding your dreams and when you find an obstacle in your way, there are many ways to conquest it.” He also noted that it does not matter what you major in now, the only thing that matters is that you enjoy doing what you are doing. And if later in life you don’t like it? Then try out something else. Do not be afraid that you do not know your path clearly now. In away it is good that you don’t know because that means that you will search and think and figure out your true passion. I wish that my mother told me this when I was younger!”
Our next “Dinner with the Mentor” will be held at Chez Bong on May.10th, this time featuring a Business Mentor. Please join us!
